I really hope the people administering the Census aren’t typical of the average competence of government workers, because if they are there’s a whole lotta waste goin’ on. Tonight I arrived home to find a notice on our front door indicating that we had been visited by a Census worker. I knew what this meant. The biggest challenge, at least for me, in studying Modern Standard Arabic isn’t the alphabet. That’s a snap. They are just letters, and you don’t have to deal with UPPER case and lower case or print vs. script. One case, just script.
