Finally, the video is up. The links above provide access to the “large” version (~150Mb) while the post above plays the the “medium” sized copy (~47Mb).
I’ll write some commentary of my own about it tomorrow, including the intended purpose and message as well as things I’d do differently if I could start over. Most of the feedback I’ve received has been very positive, however that’s the nature of feedback from your friends and peers. At least one person made a remark that indicated that he came away from it with the wrong message, but you can’t please everyone.
Here’s how an acquaintance of mine summed it up in a message to his friends:
A couple of friends of ours produced an amazing video tribute to the struggle for equality in America. [A Broadway musical] provides the anthem, but unfortunately, the news provides the real, everyday content in this strife. Rob fearlessly surfaces raw emotion as he opens up the many facets of a gay man faced with this bitterness. Rob is not alone.

Rob, I am glad you have created this weblog and believe it is doing a lot of good for those who have a sexual affinity toward the same sex.
I noticed you included a picture of a Mormon missionary in your slideshow with your understandable belief that the Mormons hate homosexuals.
I myself have served a Mormon mission and have felt these same types of feelings as you. However, through personal experience, I know the Lord loves me very much and that his Church does, also. The LDS Church came out with a formal announcement stating that they are not against civil union rights, and went into a long list of benefits they believed a homosexual person deserves to have; something that I believe not may other “Conservative” or “Christian” organizations have even considered. Basically, they also stated that we are brothers and sisters and deserve to be treated with the same respect as everyone else, because we are all children of God. And the highest ruling presidency of the Mormon Church – the First Presidency – listed a very long list of diverse and inclusive rights they believed that homosexuals should and deserve to have because we are all children of Heavenly Father who loves all of us. Period.
It can be very disconcerting, however, to know that the Mormons were really behind the defeat of Proposition 8, with all the manpower, time, money, and sacrfices from the LDS members. However, they believe that marriage was an institution ordained of God from the very beginning as between a man and a woman to fulfill the Lord’s divine purposes here on earth.
So, they are really stuck in a rock and a hard place, but they do love homosexuals as much as any other type of people.
It is just the marriage issue itself, not the rights being extended.
I hope this clarifies some things.
Thnanks for letting me post this.
